Seeing Jersey Boys at the Fox Theater. #broadway (Taken with instagram)
duke graduate, current uva law student, struggling to figure out how NOT to become a lawyer. i tumble about my 'frivolous' interests, the things i really love, the ones that don't include interviews, civil procedure or moot court: great books, online shopping, weddings, beautiful classic clothes, life in the south and charlottesville, and my adventures abroad. sometimes the law school speak slips in, and for that, i apologize.
she says it perfectly. one of the best weekends of my life!
Foxfield // April 28, 2012.
yet another weekend for the top of 2012 list.
roadtripping with my partner in crime, kerry, to see someone who completes our 3-way text messaging trifecta (thank you for that feature, iphone!), Greener, in lovely Charlottesville was just the beginning for a weekend we could never foresee for its greatness.friday night, 4.27.2012
a visit to the new whole foods (where i discovered i still need to develop grown up tastes for things like icelandic style skyr strained non-fat yogurt) then off to greener’s 304 household where letters we baking in the oven after being dyed with tea (creativity of those law school students for their projects). we then went to the law school and found a solution to locked mailrooms. we chatted about phenomena like rent the runway and headed to the corner to meet some other duke fellas. after enough of trin, we ventured to bilt…leading to the brilliant idea to try the indoor cookout new to charlottesville.
cookout: home to christian tunes and extra friendly staff. Will, Kerry, Greener, and I posted up in a booth eating pups and different style burgers. I ran into javery (my first comm run-in) then it was off to bed for the real foxfield.
foxfield of dreams, 4.28.2012
early morning wakeup and getting to search through greener’s expansive (and to die for) closet filled with every pastel color of the rainbow was a dream come true. greener was a magnificant hostess as she offered us lemonade of sorts and off we went to Emily’s gorgeous home.
On the winding roads, we found the 3 best friends in madras pants and croakies riding their bikes to foxfield. then we arrived at the B-more estate with a picturesque view, filled with bodos bagels, the friendliest of people mostly wearing raybans, and we all got to know each other via kings/harry potter characters, juggling bits, and how to handle showing up in the same dress.
getting to foxfield consisted of climbing fences in dresses (with the help of gentlemen guiding us over) and bam, we were there. getting lost in the crowd, i ran into robinson peeps, stopped by carolyn’s jeff society plot, made plans, ate pita chips, walked back to emily’s with kerry and will where many a folks had decided to take naps. burgers were grilled, and i ended up driving the whole possé of duke boys in ankur’s suburban that had the hottest seat warmers you ever did
seefeel.i recharged with a nap in greener’s bed threw on my chambray shirt and headed back to emily’s to pick up greens. upon arriving, i was greeted with the warmest’s ryan welcome “heeeeyyyy youuuu, brooooown” that became a favorite of the night.
saturday night into sunday morning, 4.28-29.2012
One more nap in greener’s bed (with her in it) and every ounce of energy i had left to get out of it - a trip to bilt and a night of rain and making some new best friends (please remind me to send them those friendship bracelets). highlights: getting surprised sandwiched in new friends ryan & alex’s dance moves, a stamp of approval from harrison, playing a game with duke boys under the pitter patter of rain at bilt, the “most pitiful” game of never-have-i-ever between greener and danbran.
one thing led to another and before i knew it, we were saying “good night to mr. jefferson” on the lawn with people i just met that day. late night conversations around the kitchen island consisted mostly of laughter, along with alex’s commentary of blindness and his civil union that serves the sole purpose of flying anywhere in the world fo free.
sunday morning, 4.29.2012
early morning wake up and walking over to the field (fences jumped in heels this time) then lying in bed with kerry & greener before mustering up the energy (sensing a common theme?) to put my hair in a sock bun and get over to bodo’s. best.meal.ever. then we hit the road with some call me maybe blarring 4+ times (at least).
as if kerry couldn’t get enough of me, she accompanied me once we got back to dc to pick up some bday gifts and we visited chipotle for a less than attentive/awful listener server, but the food was still delish. i went to the smithsters bday bash before finally getting home and crashing.
it was a great, great weekend.
one to never forget. foxfield of dreams, yet again.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
the bottom part of this skirt is the exact bedsheet i had when i was little!
